The Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences at Oklahoma State University is seeking an Equine Internal Medicine Clinical Assistant/Associate/Full Professor.
If you have a passion for educating the next generation of veterinarians and veterinary specialists, providing exceptional patient care, love contributing to clinical research (welcome but not required) and want to work in a collegial and supportive environment, this is the position for you.
Clinical responsibilities include mentorship and training of house officers, supervision of veterinary students, and technical staff in the examination and management of equine internal medicine patients. You would be joining a team of two board-certified (ACVIM LAIM) equine internal medicine specialists and three board-certified (ACVS) equine surgeons; one surgeon is also ACVSMR board-certified. The service is further supported by a busy equine theriogenology service.
Tired of being on call 24/7? We are in the process of building a separate after-hours large animal emergency service. This service currently has two faculty clinicians, one ACVIM LAIM board-certified and one ACVECC residency trained, with a third position posted and waiting to be filled.
Additional responsibilities include didactic teaching, contribution to clinical research if desired (not a requirement), and participation in extension and outreach efforts of the College, if desired. Ability to do up to 4 weeks of consultation work outside our referral area is also included.
Qualifications: Applicants must have a DVM or equivalent veterinary degree, residency training in large animal or equine internal medicine and certification by the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (ACVIM LAIM) or the European College of Equine Internal Medicine (ECEIM). Candidates qualified to take the ACVIM or ECEIM certification examination are encouraged to apply. Eligibility for faculty licensure in Oklahoma is required. A graduate degree (MSc or PhD) is welcome but not required.
This is a full-time career track position with an excellent benefits package, 4 weeks of vacation, and an equipped office. You will have the opportunity to develop as a veterinary educator supported by an enthusiastic and fantastic group of educational professionals in our Office of Curriculum and Educational Support (https://vetmed.okstate.edu/about/oces.html). Funding support for professional development is provided. Professional rank and salary will be commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications and experience.
Oklahoma State University offers many benefits to its employees, including opportunity for childcare on campus, tuition waivers for dependent children of faculty, eligibility for public service student loan forgiveness, free membership to the University’s Wellness Facilities https://wellness.okstate.edu/recreation/facilities/, and mental health resources including onsite counseling.
Review of applicants will begin upon receipt of applications and will continue until the position is filled. Applications including letter of intent with a statement of professional goals, curriculum vitae, and three names of references and contact information should be submitted at https://jobs.okstate.edu.
