The Veterinary Services Program Specialist is responsible for all veterinary course offerings offered by HCC. Duties include, but are not limited to, facilitating coordination and continuation of current Veterinary Services offerings including Veterinary Assistant Training, Animal First Aid & CPR, Animal Massage Therapy, and Dog Grooming; developing new programs as indicated by current trends; designing curriculum, including course descriptions and objectives; coordinating faculty recruitment, qualification and assignment; staffing courses and externships; monitoring and evaluating course material relevance; conducting instructor evaluations; maintaining course records; assisting students in completing applications for certification/licensure as indicated; and performing other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
General work schedule is 18 to 20 hours per week, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Final work schedule will be determined by the supervisor.
An associate's degree in Veterinary Technology and a minimum of three years of occupational experience in the veterinary field are required. Must be currently a Credentialed Veterinary Technician in the state of Maryland (RVT) OR licensed as a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM, VMD); must be able to provide proof of current licensure. Excellent interpersonal communication skills; proficiency in a Windows-based computer environment, including MS Word and Excel; and strong writing and organizational skills are required. Membership in NAVTA, MDVTA, and/or MVMA is a plus.
