About Duke Animal Clinic, L.L.C.
The Duke Animal Clinic has been established in the western suburbs of Mobile, Alabama for 35 years. Our goal is to provide consistant, high quality veterinary health care to the community. Currently, the staff consists of two full time veterinarians, one part-time veterinarian, a veterianry ophthalmologist and a veterinary dentist. The support personel include two licensed veterinary technicians, ...and four skilled assistants. We participate with a local community college's program in veterinary technology and have at least one student each semester.
Our practice presents plenty of variety and is an excellent place to develop your practice skills with mentors that are motivated to help you learn. Not only are the equine, ophthalmology and dental emphasis in our practice interesting, but our work with local rescue groups insure an interesting case load. Most recently, we have added oysters to our species list. A local hatchery, a nursery and some oyster farms have needed our help with health certificates, disease testing and certifications. Maybe bees will be next?
The clinic is located in the pine covered ridges of Mobile County and is 200 feet above sea level. 35 miles to the south is Dauphine Island, a populated barrier island on the Gulf of Mexico. The City center and Mobile Bay is 12 - 15 miles to the East. The Mobile River delta is one of the largest deltas in the United States and is very popular with kayakers, fishermen and boaters. It is about 1 1/2 hours to Gulf Shores, Alabama and 2 1/2 hours to the Florida Emerald Coast.
Cultural opportunities are readily available. Within 20 miles of the clinic are three 4 year universities. The University of South Alabama boasts a medical school, nursing program and pharmacy program. Symphony, opera, ballet and numerous vocal ensembles are available. Blues, soul, jazz festivals and concerts in the park are regular affairs. Then there is Mardi Gras and even a mullet toss.
All of this as we endeavor to serve the needs of our patients and their owners while maintaing a balance in our personal lives.......and having fun.
