VCA Sacramento Veterinary Referral Centeris seeking a highly experienced Hospital Administrator to join our outstanding team of veterinary professionals. VCA Sacramento Veterinary Referral Center is a well-established, AAHA-accredited, Specialty Hospital with 24/7 Emergency service.
We are located in a state-of-the-art, 28,000 sq. ft. facility including a new 4000 sq foot linear accelerator vault and Oncology treatment area. We have extensive diagnostic, therapeutic and monitoring capabilities, and utilize the best equipment available, including: a complete in-house laboratory (CBC/Chemistry/CriticareExpress-Nova/SCA2000/Colloid Osmometer), monitoring (ETCO2/pulse ox/NIBP/Invasive BP/telemetry), digital radiography, color flow Doppler ultrasound, high speed helical CT and a 1.5 Tesla MRI. We are equipped with complete endoscopic, laparoscopic and thoracoscopic instrumentation and UC Davis is only 30 minutes away if we need hemodialysis.
Our multi-specialty group, which currently includes Critical Care, Internal Medicine, Radiology, Surgery, Cardiology, Neurology, Animal Rehabilitation, Medical Oncology and Radiation Oncology, is one of the largest, most progressive and rapidly expanding specialty referral practices in Northern California. This type of collaborative medicine is rare outside of a university setting, and makes for a rich and rewarding environment where patient care can be optimized and learning is continuous. We currently have 8 interns and would expect anyone joining our team to play a large role in their educational experience.
The Hospital Administrator –– under the guidance of the Regional Management team and in partnership with the Medical Director –– performs a wide range of administrative activities related to the practice.
The Hospital Administrator must believe in a team concept of management, valuing the opinion of staff and co-managers to create a culture of superior client service and patient care. This includes: mentoring the staff and overseeing the business operations and maintenance of the facility; ensuring the business growth and profitability of the practice; and supporting the hospital’s mission of delivering high quality patient care and exceptional client service.
The Hospital Administrator must have an above average knowledge of financial statement analysis and be very familiar with all HR compliance regulations. The Administrator must be “hands-on” and be willing to adjust responsibilities as the hospital staff, culture and client expectations change. Above all, the goal of the administrator is to work with the management team and Doctors to insure the highest quality medicine for our patients and a work environment that encourages employee growth.

Direct and develop the veterinary, technical and administrative staff towards the goal of quality patient care and excellent client service; assist in the formulation of objectives and policies to ensure efficient and profitable hospital operations.
Oversee the hiring, reviewing, disciplining and terminating of professional staff, in accordance with and with the approval of the Regional Management team.
Build and maintain relationships with referral hospitals and community partners.
Develop, execute and oversee an annual marketing plan for the hospital.
Review the P&L Report monthly and partner with the Hospital Medical Director to increase revenue and limit expenses; work with home office to prepare and submit the yearly budget (budget forecast, operating plan, cap-ex expenditures) and participate in the evaluation process with Regional Management team.
Model an “owner” mentality in hospital by demonstrating a willingness to assist all employees in making the practice a success; invest the necessary amount of time to accomplish the required responsibilities and ensure the smooth operation of the hospital.
Positively represent the hospital and VCA in the professional community and to the general public.
