Farmstead Veterinary Service is looking for a veterinarian who understands the unique rewards, challenges, and professional satisfaction of large animal practice. We are a predominantly equine (70%) and bovine (25%) practice with a lesser number of small ruminants and camelids. We treat a broad mix of show, performance, sport, recreational, and companion horses of many breeds. Our food animal cases focus mainly on beef cattle and goats. About 75% of our calls are ambulatory, with the remainder seen at our well appointed clinic / hospital. Our haul-in facility is fully outfitted with examination stocks, video-monitored stalls and a breeding dummy. We are well equipped with an in-house lab, digital radiography, digital ultrasound, endoscopy and motorized dentistry tools. The full range of services we provide is one of our practice’s greatest strengths. It varies from equine sport and regenerative medicine, to theriogenology, medical and dental care, preventative medicine and bovine herd health and obstetrics. This variety keeps practice fresh and interesting, while fostering resourcefulness and creativity in our veterinarians. Our practice has a laid back, family atmosphere. Most of our clients are well established, compliant, medically saggy and financially secure. They appreciate the quality of our care and our responsiveness in times of emergency.
Our practice is centered in Bloomington, a college town with unique character, located in Southern Indiana hill country. It’s known for Big Ten sports, as well as for abundant cultural and educational opportunities. It’s a great place to put down roots or raise a family. The clinic is located within 5 miles of Lake Monroe, a haven for boating, fishing, and swimming. Three beautiful State Parks and two National Forests are also within a short drive.
We are looking for a third veterinarian who will thrive in this environment, both personally and professionally. The ideal candidate should be self-motivated, compassionate, ethical and communicate well. The ability to work with all large animal species is required; a special interest in theriogenology is desirable. Salary commensurate with experience. Benefit package includes liability insurance, disability insurance, health insurance stipend, CE, professional dues and licenses, paid vacation, retirement plan and use of a practice vehicle. Bonus compensation will be provided for after-hour emergency calls. This position is full time, but flexible scheduling and extended leave during slower periods could be considered, if desired.
Experience is preferred but consideration will be given to recent graduates with a strong equine and livestock background. Indiana license and federal accreditation are required.
