WAIF seeks an experienced part-time (starting at 8 hours per week) licensed veterinarian in good standing to perform spay/neuter surgeries for shelter animals in our spay/neuter clinic. Other duties may include vaccinations, microchipping, and consultation on animal health issues.
Purpose of the Position:
The veterinarian provides certain professional services to the animals WAIF is responsible for, and to programs of WAIF that require such professional services that only a licensed veterinarian can provide. At the present time, this is a part-time position (8 hrs. per week generally)
WAIF’s Veterinarian is responsible for the following:
Professional surgical services – Spay/Neuter only
Medical related services including vaccines, micro-chipping, and consultation on animal health issues.
Duties: Surgical Services
Provide spay/neuter surgeries for animals within shelter.
Perform post-op checks and order medications to ensure complete surgery recovery.
Maintain the DEA license for the surgery clinic (WAIF covers cost).
Oversee handling and recording of controlled substances by veterinary technician.
Duties: Medical Related Services
Provision of vaccines including Rabies as needed.
Microchipping of shelter animals as needed.
Be available for consultation on health issues of shelter animals.
Be available for consultation for cleaning/sanitizing protocols within shelter as needed.
Maintain a current veterinary license in good standing with state of Washington.
